about

This is one of the first three releases on Bluesanct, from the first week of November 1995, alongside "Fork plays The Stuffings" and "Knifeboat vs The Awaken".

The 'anonymous collective' on this one consists of an EP that k10Joy and I made one night when Chris (from The Stuffings) dared us to finish an album before he got home from work (one hour). It also contains other stuff I cannot remember much about, including some early attempts at 4-track recording which would evolve towards Drekka a year later.

It is a strange collection of tracks, highlighting how diverse and all over the place Day2 Alliance was (still is).

It was packaged in a cassette case drilled through with two bolts and nuts to secured through the case / tape / booklet / cover.

"works both new and archival for a timeless blend of noise, nuisance, and neo-pop."
- summer 1996 Bluesanct catalog

My favorite memory of this tape is how Godhead Silo ended up sampling it on their 1997 album, "Share the Fantasy".

I gave a copy of the tape to the singer at a GHS show at TT the Bear's. He initially pretended it was a guitar pedal, since it had screws and stuff in it and kind of looked like a pedal. He put it on the ground and pretended to turn it on and off with his foot. I figured it would end up in the trash before they even left the building.

Months later, Scott P. was listening to "Share the Fantasy" at his record store and said he started laughing when Kristen and I started talking... then, he realized they has put out track on their album.

As a joke, I called SubPop and asked for some copies in exchange for them using an unauthorized sample of our album. We didn't really care, in fact we thought it was awesome! And Sub Pop sent me a box of 25 copies of the album.

I heard later from Zak Sally that the band kind of got in trouble for it. Sorry guys, we were REALLY excited about it and never meant to get you in trouble. : (

I've included their remix of our song as a bonus track.
