"Tapes found lying about... The New Day are from Sugarland, TX 1988 and wanted to be The Cure wicked bad! "Table Mirage" is the soundtrack to a film about a factory that may not really exist. Six bands from Massachusetts that wish to remain anonymous. 1988-89, more Cure / New Order influenced 4-tracking from the days before 'alternative' was a genre."

I am not sure how I found out about The New Day. Somehow I ended up with a tape of their album and I loved their blatant, and quite good, imitation of The Cure. So, for some reason, I bootlegged it!
To this day, I still have no idea who this band was. If anyone knows of band and how to contact any members, please let me know!
UPDATE: According to Discogs, "Voices" was recorded in 1986 and was released on vinyl by a short lived label called Morning Glory. AND the band name is "The Newday", not "The New Day"!
Don't you just love the internet sometimes! (CLICK and bought).
"Table Mirage" is the soundtrack to an imaginary film about a factory.
Another bootleg of sorts, I went through piles of old tapes friends had made me in the late 80's and constructed this mixtape of beautifully lo-fi 4-tracked new wave and goth tracks to accompany The New Day album.
Fast forward to 2021 and I can barely remember who some of these projects involved. But, I still love this soundtrack. And the film is great, I've seen it!
I hope you enjoy this double dose of 80's underground.
