"On December 7, 2014, Z’EV opened up for Steven Wilson & Thomas Köner as part of the Extrapool program Brombron at the local Doornroosje venue. Z’EV was an earlier guest, recording with KK Null in 2009, and provided a great audio-visual support. The next day, he set up his electronic drums in Extrapool and Peter Johan Nÿland and Frans de Waard rooted the sound to various speakers in- and outside the venue, using the acoustic qualities of the spaces, inc the metal stairs leading to the office. Z’EV played exactly one hour and the idea was to to a mix of these recordings for a 7”, and then use the vinyl for some further sonic deconstructions. That never happened and the recordings on this cassette is the only remaining souvenir of that afternoon of recording. Peter Johan Nÿland and Frans de Waard each did a mix of the material. It is their second project together, following a LP they did with Richard Youngs (Moving Furniture Records, 2019).
Z'EV, also known as Stefan Joel Weisser (1951 - 2017) was an American conceptual artist, musician, scholar and poet. Stefan Weisser began playing the drums at age 4. He moved to New York City from San Francisco in 1979, and adopted the name Z'EV, his work with performance/noise percussion broke new ground and drew the attention of rock symphonist Glenn Branca, dancer Simone Forti, guitarist Rudolph Grey and just about everybody related to the downtown scene. His recordings from the early 1990s were created in New York with the assistance of long-time friends and collaborators Wharton Tiers and Glenn Branca. He recorded with KK Null, Pita, HATI, Bow Gamelan Ensemble, DJ Dano, thaught at the Amsterdam Dance Academy, studied the Kabbalah and produced video pieces.
Peter Johan Nÿland, or "nOh v°v", is best known for his work with intensive synth duo Distel, avant-garde leviathan Hadewych and most recently as a member of ritual collective O Saala Sakraal that had its debut out on Cyclic Law late 2018. He is also the percussionist of Swedish death industrial act Trepaneringsritualen and has collaborated with Dead Neanderthals, Greetje Bijma, Richard Youngs and others. Next to these involvements he does the odd audio engineering job and until recently worked as a composer for television documentaries and film - most notably for the Oscar-nominated animated short Mind My Mind (2019) and Dutch documentary programme Zembla.
Frans de Waard (1965) has been producing music since 1984 (Kapotte Muziek, Beequeen, Goem, Zebra, Freiband, Shifts, Modelbau, etc.). In 1984 he started his own record label Korm Plastics, releasing music from Arcane Device, Asmus Tietchens, Jim O'Rourke among others. He has worked for the pioneering Dutch tape label Staalplaat (1992-2003) and since 1986 as a reviewer for his own publication Vital (now Vital Weekly), a magazine which has been an online source for underground music since 1995, and which celebrated its 1000th issue in 2015. In 2016 Timeless published in France his first book, an autobiography of life in Staalplaat titled This Is Supposed To Be A Record Label. His interests in music creation ranges from ambient to noise to what he describes as 'silly disco music'. He has played concerts in Europe, USA, Canada, Russia and Japan, and collaborated with Steven Wilson, Jaap Blonk, Andrew Liles, Radboud Mens, Keiji Haino, Pan Sonic and others."

Soft somberness and quiet desperations? But wait, look out the window mate—at the passing cars on the rainy street, no worries, have a seat. . . would you like a cup of tea? CuriousCloud
Rhythmic, low-end-heavy meditations influenced by funk, jazz, psych, French soundtracks, and—contrary to the LP's name—dub electronics. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 1, 2024
